Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, who helps us run the site, and what you can ask of us.

Who is responsible
ModularHero, Av. de los Shyris, 170138 Quito, Ecuador, is responsible for your personal data on modularhero.com. For anything about your data, write to hello@modularhero.com.
What we collect
Your account
Your name, email address and profile picture, when you sign up with an email or with a Google or other account.
How you play
The courses you choose, the lessons and challenges you play and your answers, your points, stars, hearts, streaks, badges and modules, the racks you save in My Rack, and what your answers show about your ear (your Ear Profile). This is what makes the site work: your progress, practice and reviews are built from it.
Your subscription
If you buy Studio Pass: which plan, its status and renewal date, and the customer and subscription numbers our payment partner gives us. We never receive your card details: our payment partner, the merchant of record, collects them and handles your payment, tax and receipts under its own privacy policy.
Technical data
Like every website, our hosting and sign-in providers record technical data such as your IP address, browser and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.
What stays in your browser
Some settings (like sound on or off) and the recordings you make of your patches are kept in your browser only. Recordings are never uploaded to us; they leave your device only if you download or share them.
What others can see
Your name and profile picture appear on the leaderboard next to your points and highest badge, where other players can see them.
Why we use it
- To provide the site and Studio Pass (our contract with you): your account, progress, practice and subscription.
- To keep it secure and improve it (our legitimate interest): preventing abuse and cheating, fixing problems, and seeing where lessons are too hard.
- To meet legal duties, such as keeping records the law requires.
- To email you about your account and subscription. We'll only send other news if you agree to it, and you can stop it at any time.
We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in, set by our sign-in provider. They're essential to the site, so they don't need your consent.
Who helps us
These companies process data for us, only to provide their service:
- Clerk: sign-in and accounts.
- Neon: our database.
- Vercel: hosting the site.
- Bunny.net: delivering the course's sounds and images.
- Paddle or Polar: payments, as merchant of record, if you buy Studio Pass.
Some of them are in the United States or other countries outside yours. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses for these transfers.
How long we keep it
- Your account and progress: while your account exists. When you ask us to delete it, we delete it within 30 days.
- The detail of each answer you give in a challenge: 90 days. Your progress, scores and badges stay.
- Billing records: kept by our payment partner for as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we have about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, or object to or restrict how we use it. Write to hello@modularhero.com from your account's email address; we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority: in Ecuador, the Superintendencia de Protección de Datos Personales; in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the authority where you live.
These rights come from Ecuador's Organic Law on Personal Data Protection and, where they apply to you, the GDPR and other privacy laws.
Children
The site isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child under 13 has an account, tell us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you on the site or by email before it applies. The date at the top shows the latest version.
